When a face or voice tool runs in the cloud, your raw footage is uploaded to someone else's servers, where it's subject to their terms of service, their automated content scanning, and their moderation decisions — before you ever get your clip back. Maskwave processes everything on your own phone. There is no upload, so there is nothing for a provider to screen, no automated filter to falsely flag your take, and no account that can be suspended with your workflow inside it. What you record is your business; the only rules that apply are the ones of the platform you later choose to publish on.
What cloud processing really means for your footage
Upload-based tools don't just store your clip — they inspect it. Terms of service give the provider the right to scan uploads, automated classifiers decide whether your content is 'acceptable', and edge cases get queued for human review. That's a stranger's pipeline making a judgment call on a video you recorded of yourself, in your own room, before you've published anything anywhere.
And automated moderation gets it wrong constantly: satire read as hate speech, commentary read as harassment, a rant about your employer flagged as 'targeted abuse'. No — and not as a courtesy, but because it can't. Processing happens on your device and your footage is never uploaded, so there is no server-side scanning, no automated flagging and no human review. What you record stays yours until you choose to publish it.
Can my account get banned and my videos locked away?
There is no account. Maskwave doesn't require a sign-up, so there's nothing to suspend and no cloud library to lose access to. Your recordings and exports live in your phone's storage, under your control.
Does this mean I can post anything anywhere?
No. TikTok, YouTube and every other platform still apply their own rules to what you upload — that doesn't change. What changes is that no additional company screens your raw footage on the way from recording to export.
