Maskwave is a face and voice anonymizer that runs entirely on your own device. Because nothing is uploaded, the usual levers of big-tech control simply don't reach it: there's no terms-of-service that governs your content, no policy update that can retroactively restrict what you already recorded, no server copy that persists after you delete a clip, and no kill switch between you and an export. It works with networking off, and when you delete a video, it's actually gone — there's no cloud original left behind.
Policy changes can't reach into your camera roll
Cloud tools change their rules all the time — new 'acceptable use' clauses, new automated filters, new categories quietly added to the banned list. When that happens, everything you've ever uploaded is re-judged under the new rules, and features you relied on get switched off overnight.
Software on your device doesn't work like that. The models that hide your face and voice are on your phone; they don't phone home for permission and they can't be remotely disabled for your 'category' of content. The app you installed keeps doing what it did the day you installed it.
Delete means delete
With an upload-based service, deleting a clip from your phone deletes your copy. The original you uploaded lives on in their storage, their backups, their training sets — governed by a retention policy you've never read. With Maskwave there is no second copy anywhere. Record, export, delete: the file exists exactly where you put it and nowhere else.
That also means there's nothing for us to hand over. No footage, no voiceprints, no face data — a request to us for your content comes back empty, because we never had it.
Works with the internet off
The honest test of 'private' is airplane mode. Maskwave passes it: record, anonymize and export a clip with no connection at all. The only things that use the network are optional voice-model downloads and purchases — never your content.

Can Maskwave remotely disable a feature or block my export?
The processing pipeline is local — recording, avatar, voice conversion and export all run on your phone and don't ask a server for permission. You can verify the spirit of this yourself: put your phone in airplane mode and the whole record-to-export flow still works.
Is there a copy of my video on Maskwave's servers?
No. Your footage is never uploaded, so no copy exists outside your device. When you delete a clip from your phone, there is no cloud original left behind — and nothing for anyone to request from us.
Do I accept content rules about what I'm allowed to record?
Maskwave has no terms governing the content of your recordings, because we never receive them. Platforms you publish to still have their own rules — but between your camera and your camera roll, it's your phone and your rules.
